French yellow millet 1kg - single feed for healthy and happy birds. What is yellow millet?
Yellow foxtail millet is an unthreshed seed head, with the seeds still in their natural packaging. This means the birds have to work a bit for their food by picking the seeds one by one from the ear. This is a near-natural way of feeding.
Why is foxtail millet good for birds?
The small seeds of millet attract small birds such as sparrows, finches, goldfinches and dunnocks and are also a delicacy for all ornamental birds such as budgies, cockatiels, exotic birds and parrots.
Feeding recommendation
Offer millet to the birds as a treat in small amounts. Although millet is relatively low in fat, it can lead to obesity in birds if consumed in large quantities. It is important to ensure a balanced diet.
Nutritional information for millet
Millet contains relatively little fat. 100g of millet contains an average maximum of 4g of fat – in comparison, sunflower seeds contain about 50g of fat per 100g. Therefore, foxtail millet should only be offered in small quantities as an occasional treat. If birds were allowed to eat large amounts of foxtail or perianal millet every day, many of them would shun their other food and eat only their favorite millet. This would soon lead to a significant nutrient deficiency, as their diet would be too monotonous.
