Grit box approximately 2 liters

Eurital Grit Box approx. 2 litres

Grit box made of plastic with a capacity of around 2 litres – for the clean and dry provision of grit and minerals in the dovecote, aviary, or poultry house.

Why grit should not simply be placed on the floor

Pigeons and ornamental birds do not have teeth. They take in small stones that grind the swallowed grains in the gizzard – grit is therefore part of pigeon feed. At the same time, grit covers part of the calcium requirement needed for strong bones and firm eggshells.

Hygiene is crucial here: grit left out in the loft becomes soiled with droppings, attracts moisture, and clumps together. It is then less readily accepted. A grit box keeps the supply in one fixed place, clean and dry.

Features

• Capacity: approx. 2 litres
• Material: plastic – washable and easy to disinfect
• Suitable for: grit, mineral mixes, pigeon stone, oyster shells
• Use: dovecote, aviary, poultry house, breeding compartment
• Scope of delivery: 1 grit box

Application tips

• Offer grit freely at all times – the need varies depending on the breeding, racing, and moulting phase.
• Mount the box so the birds cannot foul it.
• Replace leftovers regularly and wash out the box each time the loft is cleaned.
• During breeding and moulting, check the fill level more often – mineral requirements increase significantly then.
