Dutchy's predatory mites 10,000 – biological control of the red poultry mite

Dutchy's are living predatory mites, which track down and eat blood mites (red poultry mite, Dermanyssus gallinae) including all life stages in cracks and crevices – exactly where the pest hides during the day and where powders and sprays can hardly reach.

This pack contains approx. 10,000 predatory mites in carrier material. It is the bulk pack for larger flocks, multiple compartments, or heavy infestations.

• Preventive: approx. 40 m²
• For an existing infestation: approx. 20 m²

Dosage

A leveled cap (VK) from the container is used as the measure. The lower dosage applies for prevention and early infestation; the higher dosage for severe infestation.

• Pigeon loft, chicken coop and other night roosts: 1–3 VK per m²
• Nests: 1–3 VK per m²
• Breeding cage 40 × 40 cm: 1–3 VK per four cages
• Breeding cage 80 × 80 cm: 1–3 VK per cage
• Nest boxes: 1–2 VK per nest box
• For tropical fowl mite: 1–2 VK per nest
• Terrarium 100 × 60 cm: 1–5 VK · 200 × 60 cm: 2–10 VK · over 2 m²: 1–5 VK per m²

Areas of application

Suitable for pigeons, chickens and other poultry, aviary birds as well as reptiles and snakes. Also effective against the tropical fowl mite (Ornithonyssus bursa).

What is normal after application

In the first few days, it may seem like more pests are visible, even in unusual places. This is an expected intermediate stage – the predatory mites drive the blood mites out of their hiding places. If there is no improvement after about three weeks, the infestation was larger than assumed; then a second application is worthwhile.

Important notes on ordering and shipping

• Live beneficial insects: The goods are shipped fresh and should be released promptly after receipt.
• Delivery only against prepayment (or PayPal).
• No returns – these are living animals.
• Do not use together with diatomaceous earth, mite powder, or sprays: These products work non-specifically and also harm the predatory mites. Clean mechanically beforehand and avoid powders.
• Store in a cool place, but frost-free and out of the sun.
