Refona Mite Booster Complete Set

The complete set consists of the blue holder and a filled cartridge with predatory mites (Dutchy's). It is the easiest way to get started with the biological control of the red poultry mite – for hanging in the coop, aviary, or stable.

How the Mite Booster works

The cartridge is a capsule in which predatory mites live. Inside, there is a consistently favourable level of humidity, so the beneficial insects can multiply there and gradually migrate into the surroundings over a longer period of time. This is what sets the Mite Booster apart from a one-time application from the can: it continuously releases predatory mites and is therefore particularly suitable for long-term prevention and for control after an infestation.

The predatory mites hunt blood mites (red poultry mite, Dermanyssus gallinae) in cracks and crevices and feed on them, including all developmental stages – right where the pest stays during the day.

Application

• Attach the holder in a protected place in the coop, preferably close to perches, nests, or other cracks.
• Do not place in direct sunlight, in a draft, or where it can get wet.
• The cartridge can be replaced with a refill cartridge when needed – the holder stays in place.

Areas of application

Suitable for pigeons, chickens, and other poultry, aviary birds as well as reptiles and snakes. Also effective against the tropical bird mite (Ornithonyssus bursa) and, according to the manufacturer, also against feather lice.

What is normal after application

In the first few days, it may seem like more pests are visible, even in unfamiliar places – the predatory mites drive the blood mites out of their hiding places. If there is no improvement after about three weeks, the infestation was larger than assumed; in that case, an additional application from the can is advisable.

• No returns – these are live animals.
• Do not use together with diatomaceous earth, mite powder, or sprays: these products also harm the predatory mites.
